I was trying to get a script so I could get the search output in a markdown note.

The nix package is broken out of the box. I needed to create ~/.local/state/nix/profile/etc/xdg/surfraw/conf and tweak it a bit

The instructions also point to the wrong file for local config. ~/.config/surfraw/conf did not work, but ~/.surfraw.conf did

Most elvi files either didn’t work. The only search engine that worked well out of the box without change is duckduckgo, but all the links have a duckduckgo redirection.

I tried searx but the api is restricted with curl and I got garbled output that w3m did not convert to html properly so pandoc would also fail.
